Job Title : Senior Vehicle Validation Engineer
Job Description :
As a Senior Vehicle Validation Engineer, you will be at the forefront of testing and validating vehicle systems to ensure optimal performance.
You will lead the development of test procedures, conduct specialized tests, and play a critical role in vehicle prototyping, issue resolution, and system validation.
This role requires a blend of hands-on technical skills and project management to support a wide range of validation activities, including powertrain, thermal systems, high-voltage battery, and software performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the development of test procedures and performance assessments for vehicle systems, including powertrain, thermal systems, high-voltage batteries, and software.
- Design and execute specialized tests tailored to evaluate specific vehicle systems, such as thermal and powertrain performance.
- Support vehicle bring-up activities, addressing issues and providing resolutions throughout the prototype build phases.
- Manage hardware upgrades, software flashing, and diagnostics via communication protocols like CAN and LIN.
- Oversee the assigned test vehicles, ensuring proper hardware and software configurations, service history, and utilization tracking.
- Support instrumentation setup and calibration, including the installation of thermocouples, video cameras, strain gauges, accelerometers, load transducers, and data acquisition systems.
- Plan and conduct dynamic and static vehicle-level tests in coordination with stakeholders, ensuring all activities follow the agreed-upon test plans.
- Retrieve, store, and analyze test data, comparing results to design specifications, and generating detailed test reports with both subjective and objective findings.
- Track all issues discovered during tests, working closely with design engineers to implement countermeasures and revalidate solutions through testing or simulation.
- Manage the cost, schedule, scope, and risks associated with testing throughout the program lifecycle while maintaining critical path timelines.
- Support vehicle-level durability, reliability, and corrosion test programs, ensuring all testing activities align with program goals.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and testing teams to ensure efficient testing processes and outcomes.
- Assist in the development of test cases and verify system functions on various platforms, including test benches, lab vehicles, and prototype cars.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role within the automotive or motorsport industry.
- Proven experience in running and maintaining various vehicle-level tests, such as powertrain performance, powertrain durability, thermal and HVAC performance, interoperability tests, coast-down, and range assessments.
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation and sensor types such as thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges, IMUs, and LVDTs.
