Job Details :
- Unit : Medical Surgical Magic Valley Hospital Flr 4
- of Beds : 36
- Ratios : 1 : 5, rarely asked to flex to 6 but has happened
- Common diagnoses / Types of patients CV, Strokes, Sepsis, and other MS type patients- COPD, CHF pneumonia, COVID, Chest tubes,
tele pts, general overflow of medical patients- rarely get surgicals, do get post cath lab pts- after they go to IMCU for short stay,
post pacers.
Experience or 'Must have' skills : Highly prefer Neuro and Tele experience. Prefer EPIC experience. Must have 1 year of experience,
okay with first time travelers.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips : No
- Common titratable & / or set rate drips : N / A
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift : Charge nurse does not take patient assignments. Resource / Team Lead RN does not take an
assignment (may take a couple if full)- helps the LPN’s / RN’s and Aides with tasks.
- Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit : Yes. 1 : 8
- RT Equipment : All except vents- fresh trachs after ICU / IMCU stay.
- Are there tele / monitor techs on this unit : Monitor techs, RNs are required to read and interpret. Currently using SpaceLabs but
transitioning to Philips over the next few months.
Shifts & Scheduling : 7-7. Travelers will fill in where there is a need after core staff are scheduled, do try to group night shifts together
but not guaranteed.
- Weekend Requirement : yes- based on need
- Holiday Requirement : yes- based on need
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement : If needed would only cancel the amount of shifts allowed per contract
- Floating Requirements : Will float to the Medical and Surgical floors
- Scrub Color / Dress Code / Scrubs provided : Navy blue scrubs, white / navy / black undershirts. Scrub jackets : Navy NO sweat pants or
hoodies allowed.
- How many shifts of unit / department specific orientation : 2-3 shifts
- Required certifications : BLS, ACLS, Idaho Licensure, NIHSS preferred
