Caseload : Middle School Push OutSessions

  • TheSpeech Language Pathologist supports the improvement of instructionfor scholars identified with speech and language impairmentsthrough screenings evaluations and assessments progress monitoringand implementation of services and therapy needs for scholars;
  • equip staff with tools and strategies to support scholars in theclassroom; works collaboratively to ensure scholar success;

anddemonstrates efforts in supporting teachers and staff in the use ofbest practices in supporting scholars with speechlanguageimpairments.

Thepurpose of this placement is to provide evaluations andinterventions (consult or direct) needed to enhance a scholar slevel of communicative functioning and abilities for them toparticipate in the schoolenvironment.

EssentialJobFunctions

Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)including measurable goals and objectives evaluation and progressmonitoring for each scholar s needs as applicable to theeducationalsetting.

Recognizes overt indicators of scholar s distress or abuse andtakes appropriate intervention referral or reporting actionconcerningservices.

Identifies and selects appropriate diagnostic and therapeuticmaterials and equipment for speech and languageservices

Establishes and maintains effective and efficient documentation forcaseload.

Establishes and maintains a positive organized and safe environmentforscholars.

Conducts comprehensive evaluations and completes progress reportsmaintains confidentiality forservices

Provides therapeutic intervention (direct or indirect) and / orconsultation for Speech and LanguageCommunication

Consult with interventionists families and other professionals toprovide instructions and therapy techniques that generalize acrossother daily activities which will affect scholar academicperformance.

Conduct training sessions for staff to increase awareness andintervention fidelity that promotes and supports professionalgrowth.

Keeps well informed about current trends and best practices inSpeech LanguagePathology.

Complies with Federal regulations and TN state policies proceduresandprograms.

Supports school and District priorities and ensures that scholargrowth / achievement is continuous and appropriate for age groups andscholar programclassification.

Establishes and maintains a positive collaborative relationshipwith scholars families to increase scholarachievement.

KnowledgeSkills AndAbilities

Requires professional knowledge of the theories terminologyprinciples and techniques of Speech Language Pathology practices inpediatric adolescent and young adult growth and developmentneurological disabilities behavioral management and psychosocialaspects of children with mental and physicaldisabilities.

Requires the ability to consult and communicate effectively bothorally and in writing with parents scholars teachers andcolleagues.

Requires the ability to organize and prioritize therapy activitiesand program relatedpaperwork.

Requires the ability to perform professionallevel work dealing withdata people and technology that relates to technical scientific orlegalskills.

Requires the ability to make professional and ethical decisionsthat impact how the school teams (MDSC STeams RTI IEP Meetingsetc.

Requirements

Master s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accreditededucationalinstitution.

Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred or eligible. CFYs willbe provided aSupervisor

Possess Indiana license to practice Speech Language Pathology.LicenseReimbursement

Indiana Teaching certification with SLP endorsement required
