Goodwill of Colorado is seeking a qualified, motivated, Assistant Manager for our Transportation and Logistic Operations in our Southern Division (El Paso / Teller / Douglas Counties)!

Minimum Pay starts at $55,000 annually.
This full-time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life / Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings.

The Assistant Transportation and Logistics Manager will work with Manager of Transportation and Logistics (MTL) to oversee all aspects of donated goods transportation, processing and storage for the organization, and implement logistics best practices to meet business objectives in an efficient and effective manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS :
Assist with establishing and measuring KPIs to drive performance for on-time, in-full delivery performance, to maintain efficient shipping costs for all forms of transit, warehouse / processing operations while maintaining productivity and quality.
Assist with managing donated product logistics, transportation processes, and coordinating vehicle maintenance. Work with the MTL to implement improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.
Assist the MTL with review procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and process improvements.
Understand, review, and work with the MTL to improve all aspects of operations.
o Must understand the supply and demand cycle of donated goods.
o Work with the MTL to ensure that productivity, processing, storage, salvage, and distribution criteria are balanced to maximize revenue.
o Ensure donated articles are protected, properly sorted, stored, distributed or disposed of, in accordance with company policies.
o Supervise the production and accurate sorting of material goods at the dock and warehouse.
Assist the MTL with overseeing all supervisors, assigned drivers, helpers, and sorters to include hiring, training, issuing disciplinary actions, completing and issuing performance evaluations, and firing.
o Must conduct safety training in a consistent and timely fashion to reduce work related injuries and equipment failure;
provide personal protective equipment and appropriate footwear as needed.
o Work with the MTL to Coach supervisors to use best practices to motivate staff and maintain a safe and productive work environment.
o Assist the MTL in ensuring adequate staffing, supplies, and tools to reach work productivity goals.
o Will advise and counsel subordinates on matters relating to work productivity, quality and work approach / behavior at work.
o Work with the MTL to manage supervisors to ensure proper priorities and work goals are established.
Risk Management and Safety
o Ability to understand and follow all Goodwill safety standards and guidelines.
o Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed and checked. Ensure the work environment is free of safety hazards and employees are aware of risks.
o Ability to understand and maintain current knowledge of Department of Transportation standards and guidelines. Work with the MTL to implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Relationship Management
Provide leadership, training, and support to subordinates. Work with the MTL to ensure continuity of operations at all levels.
Ensure open communication.
Assist the MTL to promote harmony within and between all departments. Consistently apply and implement Goodwill policies and procedures to protect Goodwill from legal liability.
Report any situation to the Manager of Transportation and Logistics and / or Director of Operations that may require attention or action.
Provide recommendations and workable solutions whenever possible.
Work cooperatively with all department heads to ensure the most effective and efficient handling of donated goods.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Qualifications : At least two (2) years’ experience supervising in a warehouse / dock, or product logistics environment, to include supervising and managing people and financial plans / budgets.
Strong financial acumen. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook / Excel / Word / PowerPoint) and warehousing / logistical best practices to include safety regulations is required.
Demonstrated success managing multiple functions, projects and priorities. Strong ability to lead teams and collaboratively partner with other business groups.
Solid communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of employees and customers in a diverse community.
Proven ability to coach and develop talent. Strong work ethic, self-starter, problem-solver, and team player. Must be an advocate for our mission and values.
Flexibility to work when needed, which may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
AUTO NOTICE :
- Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements : For applicants / employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, they must be at least :
- 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
- 25 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
- 21 years of age for CDL.
- Applicants / employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants / employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last three (3) years)(Note : not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier);
must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
Applicant / employees using their personal vehicle for company business, must have valid vehicle insurance, valid driver license, and vehicle must be in roadworthy condition.
