The Adult Education Corrections Instructor will work to help launch an innovative new program to provide GED instruction for 24 offenders who are in a secure setting in Raleigh.
This instructor will develop a curriculum and have responsibility for planning and conducting classes that are in alignment with state standards, ensure all students taught are assessed in CASAS by a certified CASAS administrator, and ensure the state target of students are making progress as measured by a Measurable Skill Gain in the classes taught.
The instructor will assist with communicating with the GED students and compile recommended resources for learning.
This will be a hybrid position with some in-person instruction and some virtual. The ultimate goal is learning that leads to the obtainment of a GED or HiSET High School Equivalency.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Instruction
- Assess individual learners’ needs with informal and formal approved assessments.
- Develop and regularly update individualized learning plans for each student in accordance with individual learning styles and skill levels and share plans with Adult Ed Programs Manager.
- Deliver instruction according to best practices in Adult Basic Education that are based upon the standards for adult education.
- Conduct instruction such that students can make progress based upon pre-post-test Educational Functioning Level gains.
Program Management and Reporting
- Conduct intake (via paper or online form) and exit meetings for high school equivalency students.
- Coordinate assessing students with CASAS at intake and after appropriate hours with certified CASAS administrator. Ensure all students have had a pre-assessment in the first week of class.
- Enter assessment and attendance into tracking spreadsheet weekly.
- Coordinate final practice testing and GED or HiSET testing.
