About The Position
Job Title : CT Scan Technologist Job Specialty : Radiology Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Mid - 4x10 - Mostly 1PM-11 : 30PM;
some shifts 11AM-9 : 30PM or 9AM-7 : 30PM; every other weekend; Thanksgiving holiday required 1PM-11 : 30PM Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : Six months of CT experience preferred License : NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications : ARRT Certified R.
T.(R) license required; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have : Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiological positioning of the human body, CT software and hardware, PACS system, ability to maintain CEU credits, achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire date Job Description : Perform complex CT procedures and provide related techniques to produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation.
- Use professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient's clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned into the PACS system.
- Prepare, screen, and review the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient or family member and scan into the EPIC system.
- Identify and administer contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.- Review patient prescriptions to verify the appropriateness of exams and communicate with the Radiologist and Referring Physician for additional clinical information or a new prescription if required.
- Contact physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with appropriate CT protocols.- Verify insurance-authorized exam scripts and send exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.
- Obtain outside studies and schedule them so that CDs and reports are available for Radiologist comparison.- Provide exam copies to the patient and requesting physician or family member as needed.
- Evaluate radiographs using the PACS system to ensure they contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.- Gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and ensure patient safety.
- Determine if the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.- Prep patients for scanning including tasks such as shielding and using immobilization devices.
- Determine the appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered.- Provide clear explanations and instructions during procedures, addressing and documenting patient questions and concerns.
- Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures following established guidelines.- Monitor the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during procedures.
- Adhere to scheduled shifts including holidays and maintain punctuality and attendance standards.- Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.- Modify and deliver patient care specific to individual needs including age, culture, language, and any disabilities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, parents, or primary caregivers depending on developmental / age and educational / literacy levels.
- Follow established standards of behavior and organizational competencies.
