The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance is seeking an experienced Executive Director!

The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA) is a statewide organization that is committed to fairness and healing for crime victims, their families, and communities through leadership, education, and advocacy.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Executive Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, financial, and operational management of COVA. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring COVA's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and maintain a long-range strategy that ensures COVA's mission is achieved and progress is made consistently and timely.
  • Lead the development of program, organizational, and financial plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors and staff.

Implement goals, objectives, and policies authorized by the Board.

  • Promote active and broad participation of membership in all areas of COVA's work.
  • Ensure the maintenance of official records and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Communications

  • Keep the Board fully informed on all significant factors that influence COVA's operations.
  • Promote COVA's activities, programs, and goals to external stakeholder organizations and partners.
  • Establish strong working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations that support COVA's growth.
  • Strengthen COVA's public image and promote its mission, programs, products, and services.

Staff Management

  • In collaboration with Program Directors, attract, recruit, develop, motivate, retain, and reward a high-quality team of staff and volunteers.
  • Build and maintain an effective management team, ensuring succession planning is in place.

Budget and Finance

  • Oversee and ensure adherence to standard financial practices.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Committee and the Board to prepare and maintain a budget, ensuring COVA operates within budget guidelines.
  • Execute official COVA correspondence and legal documents jointly with the President and Secretary of the Board or designated officers.
  • Oversee research, planning, and implementation of fundraising activities, including identifying funding sources, establishing strategies, submitting proposals, and managing fundraising records.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION

Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field; Master's degree or higher preferred.

Equivalent combination of education and / or experience may be considered.

  • 7+ years progressive leadership experience working in non-profit organizations, victim service agencies, or similar organizations.
  • Prior non-profit experience including working with Boards and committees and experience in program management and development.
  • Experience building, leading and mentoring a team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness and diversity in all aspects of management and operations.
  • Experience with financial management, fundraising, and grant writing.
  • Proven success developing and maintaining successful relationships with diverse populations to ensure significant community engagement.
  • Prior experience with and knowledge of victim services operations, Victim Rights Amendment and enabling statutes, and public policy and legislation as it relates to crime victim issues.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING

  • Expected annual salary range of $110,000 - $130,000 based on experience.
