Description :

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Labor and Delivery / Postpartum team.

The facility has 241 licensed beds and provides Level 3 Trauma care.

The unit consists of 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU.

On average, the unit cares for 4 to 6 patients per day.

Patient ratios are determined using AWHONN Staffing Guidelines, which allocate 1 : 2 for inactive labor, 1 : 1 for active labor, and 1 : 3-4 for couplets.

Responsibilities include labor management, circulating cesarean sections, managing pre-op and PACU, triaging patients, resuscitating newborns, and managing Pitocin and epidural administration.

Support within the department includes charge nurse availability 24 / 7.

Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws.

Respiratory therapy and hospitalists are available 24 / 7 for newborn care.

Telemetry monitoring is utilized, along with fetal monitoring equipment and electronic medical records.

The unit features various technology and equipment such as scales, ultrasound devices, and ambulation assist devices.

Floating within the region is required, adhering to scope of practice.

Travelers will be compensated for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift.

The schedule involves weekend rotation and holiday expectations, with travelers working 75% of holidays.

Requests for time off are approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and any unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract.

The unit promotes a culture of teamwork.

Uniforms are hospital-issued in green.
