Job Description :
Reporting directly to the Batch Plant Manager, the Class A CDL Truck Driver will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy vehicles as assigned.
Truck Drivers will be responsible for transporting equipment and materials to and from different jobsites and locations.
Truck Drivers will also be responsible for operating concrete mixer trucks to deliver ready mix concrete to projects as needed.
Drivers are responsible for always following all related DOT rules and regulations.
This position is one in which a momentary lapse of attention may result in grave and immediate danger to themselves and others;
therefore, this position is classified as safety sensitive.
Key Responsibilities :
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle.
- Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
- Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck, flatbed to prevent damage / injury
- Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
- Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
- Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
- Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs
- Track and report working hours
- Adhere to company rules and regulations
- Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather / road conditions
- Always make safety a priority
- Performs related work as may be required
Minimum Requirements :
- Valid Class A Commercial Drivers' License required
- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
- Physically and mentally fit
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Ability to test and earn additional CDL Endorsements
- Must pass a DOT physical and drug test
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with employees
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and professional manner
Preferred Qualifications :
- 2+ years of proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred
- Additional CDL Endorsements such as H (Hazardous materials), N (Tank) or others preferred.
