Overview : We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant for a temporary assignment to support our finance team.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with strong expertise in General Ledger (GL) accounting, proficiency in Oracle ERP systems, and hands-on experience with Blackline for account reconciliation.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing financial reports, closing processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures during this time.
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger for Canadian entities and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the General Ledger functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances; provide insights into management for decision-making.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with external auditors.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support.
- Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Utilize Oracle to process transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports.
- Lead and manage the Blackline account reconciliation process, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in General Ledger accounting or related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in a large corporate or multinational environment.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
