Responsible for the design, creation, modification / configuration, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation of high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software that complies with coding standards, technical designs, and that meets user needs following the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Works with other functions within IT to interface with users, determine needs, develop code, maintain code repositories, and test software to ensure functionality and update program(s) to include security measures, data capacity, and quality deployments.
Will be involved in relevant software build or buy decisions.
Works to achieve day-to-day objectives. Works independently on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments. Sets objectives for own area to meet the objectives or goals of projects and assignments.
May assist other professionals with tasks and assignments.
Essential Functions Accountabilities Performance Measures
- Work with stakeholders or other IT Department members to design, develop, test, maintain, and support in-house line of business applications, built on an IBM iSeries platform using RPG, SQL, Lansa, Go Anywhere, or similar tools.
- Perform systems analysis needed to ensure optimal application operation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and IT Department personnel to troubleshoot system and application issues.
- Manage medium scale projects while supporting the day-to-day activities of the business.
- Consult closely with IT Department leadership and stakeholders regarding projects, milestones & tasks.
- Work with others to design in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for new and modified systems.
- Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems
- Develop work instructions, procedures, system documentation, and coding standards as needed.
- Provide after-hours support as needed.
- Stay current on related technologies, best practice work methods and make suggestions for improvement as warranted.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Experience :
Requires knowledge of area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Usually requires a university degree. However, equivalent relevant experience may be substituted.
Minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience required.
Certificates Licenses Registrations :
- 5+ years of proven experience with RPG (IV, ILE, Free Form), CL, SQL, iSeries admin tasks, and DB2 database functionality.
- Strong SQL skills including embedded SQL. Must be comfortable with creating and working with advanced SQL statements - e.
g., GROUP BY, HAVING, OUTER JOINS, etc.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Software and other related technologies.
- Knowledge of enterprise system functions (e.g. Distribution, Inventory, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Order Entry / Invoicing, PO Entry / Stock Receiving, General Ledger)
- Familiarity with the following platforms or technologies : Turnover, EDI, Socket programming, API's, XML, JAVA, Lansa / RDML, BRMS Backup and Recovery, WPF, C#.
- Ability to understand business unit objectives and how technology can be leveraged to help achieve them.

- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with all levels of work colleagues, management, and external parties.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
