Description
The Advanced Practice Specialist ('APS') Enteral / Parenteral demonstrates advanced expertise in evidence-based nursing and practice, and provides teaching, mentoring, consulting, leadership and systems improvement.
The APS influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to care providers and implements improvements in health care delivery systems.
The APS demonstrates a high degree of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing practice and utilizes advanced theoretical and empirical knowledge and a scientific approach to problem solving.
The APS establishes standards for patient care and evaluates interventions to improve care. Emphasis on specific role components is dependent upon the patient population and the clinical and administrative functions / needs of the clinical settings, Center for Nursing Excellence, Department of Nursing and UCLA Health.
Salary Range : $140,200 - $331,800
Qualifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Red Cross or
American Heart Association - required
- CA RN License-required
- Masters in Nursing (MSN)-required
- Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification- required
- 3-5 years specialty practice experience applicable to role- required
National certificate within area of specialty- preferred
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to develop and monitor complex and comprehensive plans of care
- Ability to provide direct patient care
- Ability to develop, monitor and evaluate clinical protocols, standards of
care, P / P and other documents related to patient care
- Ability to assess educational needs of staff, patient and family
- Ability to develop and implement educational programs
- Ability to consult on a broad spectrum of professional nursing practice
issues including but not limited to : nursing practice performance standards,
program development, professional practice models, research utilization models,
system change strategies and professional development
- Ability to utilize research
- Ability to apply principles of change theory and systems theory to implement
innovative patient care practices system-wide
- Ability to evaluate clinical and financial outcomes
- Ability to mentor staff
