Job Title : Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
A manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join the team. The individual will be responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance for industrial production equipment within a food production facility.
Duties include troubleshooting, machine breakdowns, rebuilds, welding, electrical programming, PLC knowledge, automation, and fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines, control systems, pumps, motors, HMIs, and PLCs.
- Conduct machine breakdowns and rebuilds.
- Perform welding, electrical programming, and fabrication tasks.
- Utilize automation knowledge to maintain and repair equipment.
- Handle 480V electrical systems for industrial machinery.
- Document maintenance activities using the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Communicate maintenance issues to relevant employees such as other maintenance technicians, operators, engineers, and supervisors.
- Properly utilize the maintenance inventory system.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of maintenance mechanic experience in a production company, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
- Proven troubleshooting capabilities on complex process and packaging equipment.
- Experience with control systems, pumps, motors, HMIs, and PLCs.
- Electrical experience with 480V industrial machines.
- Preventative maintenance experience to reduce production downtime.
- Experience in documentation for maintenance activity using CMMS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or GED.
- Ability to follow and adhere to strict GMPs.
- Comfortable working in high-heat environments and around strong smells.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Experience with electricity (480V), compressors, water heaters, pneumatics, air lines, and pumps.
- Experience with automation systems, palletizers, and box makers.
- Proactive and able to make decisions independently.
- Student attitude and willingness to learn.

Work Environment
The facility runs 24 / 7 and houses large industrial machines that create a hot environment due to continuous chocolate melting and tempering.
Mechanics have a dedicated shop with a work area, workbench, and welding machine. All tools are provided, and mechanics use computers to manage work orders and reports.
The dress code prohibits jewelry, fake lashes, fake nails, heavy smells, nuts, and glass. Uniforms are provided along with a locker for personal items.
Daily tasks are assigned during pass-down meetings, and all activities are recorded in the CMMS system. Training begins on the first shift at 5 : 30 AM and transitions to the second shift long-term, with a minimum training period of 30 days.
