1489 Standard Job Description : Prepare histologic slides and tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Pathologists.
- Perform work at various facilities, as needed, to provide adequate services.- Be available for alternate shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Utilize the Information System to manage samples, order tests, and communicate with medical staff.- Confirm accuracy of patient sample identification and evaluate specimen quality.
- Perform rapid tissue processing and frozen section techniques for immediate examination.- Operate tissue processing equipment for specimen preservation.
- Utilize a microtome for tissue sectioning, slide preparation, staining, and coverslipping.- Conduct special and immunohistochemical staining procedures as necessary.
- Perform gross examination on designated specimens under Pathologist direction.- Maintain filing system and records for slides, blocks, and tissues.
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment. Please note : Holiday coverage is required. Familiarity with EPIC EMR is beneficial.
