About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technologist - Certified (CVOR) Job Specialty : Surgical Techs Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : Days, 4x10, including late shifts Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : CVOR experience required License : Lic Practical Nurse - Preferred Certifications : Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have : CVOR experience, CST, BLS Job Description : Assist the healthcare team in providing safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care.
- Work under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.- Exhibit skills and proficiency in moderate to high acuity surgical cases.
- Demonstrate an efficient, organized surgical plan for assigned cases.- Take initiative to discuss surgical plans with the healthcare team.
- Troubleshoot instruments and equipment as needed.- Anticipate additional supplies or equipment requirements for procedures.
- Mentor, precept, or train in various modalities.- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.- Prepare the operative suite and surgical field for safe patient care.
- Maintain vigilance for sterile field maintenance and patient safety.- Gather required instruments and supplies; serve as a surgical assistant if necessary.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and stocking ORs and additional perioperative areas.- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards at all times.
- Provide relationship-based patient-centered care.- Partner with the patient by verifying procedures.- Support evidence-based practice and ethical accountability.
- Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.- Serve as a patient advocate for care and safety.- Assist with between-case cleaning and prepare the room for the next patient.
- Transport patients as needed.- Offer comfort and safety measures for patients.- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the physician or registered nurse.
- Prepare case carts according to procedures and preference cards.- Maintain financial stewardship related to supplies and equipment.
- Complete all initial and annual competencies and mandatory education.- Provide a positive learning environment for students and new hires.
- Retain new information and implement processes and equipment efficiently.- Support equipment care and medical supply maintenance.
