Reports to : Principal

Job Summary :

The Exceptional Children (EC) Resource Teacher for Grades 3-5 is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with varying disabilities.

The teacher will work collaboratively with general education teachers to ensure that students' individual education plans (IEPs) are implemented effectively, with the goal of promoting academic and social success for each student.

This role includes small group instruction and individualized interventions that are designed to meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a resource setting.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support differentiated instruction and provide accommodations / modifications to students with IEPs.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, assessments, and IEP reports.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-based meetings to support student success.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports each student's emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Stay current with best practices and strategies in special education, particularly with a focus on blended learning and differentiated instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and needs.
  • Support students in building skills for independence, self-advocacy, and positive social interactions.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching license in Exceptional Children’s Education.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an elementary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, co-teaching models, and behavior intervention strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
