Job Description : Nursing Director Surgical Services
Overview
The Nursing Director of Surgical Services is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing operations within the surgical services department.
This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and adherence to healthcare regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the surgical services department, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical protocols and policies to ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Oversee budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation for surgical services.
- Collaborate with surgical staff, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements as necessary.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.
- Ensure effective communication within the surgical team and with patients and their families.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and performance evaluation of nursing staff.
- Stay updated with advancements in surgical practices and technology to enhance patient care.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in nursing administration or a related specialty is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and nursing standards.
Desired Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing experience in surgical services, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing surgical operations and improving patient care outcomes.
- Experience in budget management and strategic planning within a healthcare environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
