Job Duties
The Joint Commission on Technology and Science (JCOTS) is recruiting for an Executive Director in Richmond, Virginia. JCOTS was initially established in 1997 by the Virginia General Assembly and charged with evaluating the impact of existing statutes and proposed legislation related to technology and science in the Commonwealth and advising the General Assembly on matters related to technology and science (Code of Virginia, 30-85).
The Executive Director works closely with JCOTS legislative members and leads the JCOTS staff to fulfill these responsibilities.
Duties / Responsibilities
Manage and supervise the daily operations and activities of JCOTS and its staff. Ensure all work created by such staff is of high quality.
Manage JCOTS's budget appropriation
- Plan and attend JCOTS meetings and prepare minutes for each meeting
- Develop JCOTS work plans and coordinate work plan activities and projects with JCOTS members and others
- Represent JCOTS in meetings with General Assembly leadership and other agency heads and managers and in making formal presentations to stakeholders and the public
- Facilitate connections with industry stakeholders, interest groups, experts, and agencies to assist in JCOTS's work
- Additional tasks as assigned

Additional Considerations
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, electrical engineering, computer science, informatics, or a related field
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
