Responsibilities

Arcfield is looking for a highly skilled Autonomous Systems Engineer proficient in Unmanned Vehicles, Robotics, and Machine Learning.

We are looking for candidates who are creative, self-driven, curious, people-oriented and comfortable defining a path through ambiguity towards high-level goals.

The successful candidate should be knowledgeable about various programming languages and autonomous system technologies.

Duties

  • Develop well-documented, actionable, measurable, testable, traceable, requirements to identify needs or opportunities, and defined to a level of detail sufficient for system design.
  • Support development and allocation of system requirements to system components and maintain traceability between user and component-level system requirements.
  • Develop SOWs and associated requirements documents.
  • Identify and maintain awareness of sources of technical data to support intelligence analysis, obtain and maintain access to such data, and develop / perform queries against those sources.
  • Provide initial analysis of data and its source using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, develop analytic judgements such as relevance or vulnerabilities, and prepare briefings / reports documenting the methodology used and the results obtained.
  • Develop new autonomous system algorithm design concepts that are consistent with architectural guidance and industry best practices and analyze the cost, schedule, and performance implications of these design concepts.
  • Design and support integration of software and hardware components to create an autonomous system.
  • Assist with the assessment of development system design and implementation deliverables.
  • Discover and forecast AI / ML and robotics technologies and products advancing mission capabilities.
  • Scout and perform market analysis assessing the potential of new products, support technology transfer and adoption.
  • Provide independent assessment of projects regarding technical risk including risk definition, assessment, prioritizing, and mitigation.
  • Review technical challenges, propose recommended courses of action and document.
  • Provide technical expertise providing detailed understanding of current systems and potential system improvements; may involve modeling, prototyping.
  • Constructs, configures, tests, and debugs robots and robotic systems.
  • Apply techniques and methods for technology development and efforts at all stages of the life cycle management process.
  • Conduct investigative activities to improve existing products or procedures.
  • Provide highly specialized knowledge and expertise to support requirements or issues related to threats and vulnerability, policy and regulations, intelligence, and optimizing organizational processes and needs.
  • Collaborates with developers, fellow engineers, project managers, clients and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of robotics projects.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS / SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7
  • Excellent mechanical and design aptitude with strong attention to details is required.
  • Proven efficacy in system troubleshooting and performing quality control and function tests to gauge performance.
  • At least 8 years of experience of robotic applications or machines programming or engineering.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical wiring and computer software engineering.
  • Strong knowledge artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Communicate effectively with team members, managers, sponsors and business partners throughout the project lifecycle (project updates, scope changes, challenges, date changes).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Desired Skills

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in prototyping unmanned autonomous vehicles.
  • Experience in design and development of multi-dimensional databases, cubes and data warehouses.
