Employee Benefits Account Manager

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the main client contact for various needs.
- Collaborate with team members to manage client relationships and service activities.
- Provide consistent, accurate, and timely communication to clients through various means, including calls, meetings, and written correspondence.
- Assist clients in understanding insurance policies, coverages, and compliance responsibilities.
- Resolve client issues, including claims, billing, and coverage questions.
- Work with clients to design and implement employee benefit programs.
- Conduct needs analysis, strategy calls, and enrollment meetings.
- Review client needs, recommend suitable approaches, and help implement benefit program strategies.
- Model employee benefits contributions to align with client objectives.
- Assist in reducing costs while offering competitive benefits options.
- Manage the renewal process, including re-marketing if necessary.
- Coordinate the Request for Proposal (RFP) process on behalf of clients.
- Prepare and present renewal proposals.
- Obtain carrier approval and ensure compliance with government agencies.
- Attend training sessions and educational workshops to maintain required licenses and stay updated on industry trends and compliance issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and vendors.
- Participate in insurance company and vendor meetings to stay informed about industry developments.
- Review contracts, amendments, and SPDs for accuracy and coverage.
- Maintain accurate client files, documenting all interactions and communications.
- Prepare and deliver various client communications, including proposals, reports, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Stay current on changes in legislation impacting employee benefit programs.
- Communicate legislative changes to clients and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Act as an advocate for clients on issues related to employee claims and carrier relations.
- Always conduct business with the highest level of confidentiality.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of group health and welfare benefit plan coverage.
- Understanding of current legislation, rules, laws, and regulations related to insurance and benefits.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance products and coverage, as well as health and ancillary products.
- Solid knowledge of insurance plans, underwriting principles, selection, pricing, rating, and premium calculation.
- Knowledge of rating procedures, coverage, and industry operations to manage and maintain accounts.
- Ability to work with clients at a strategic level.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Holds an active Life and Health (L&H) Insurance License.
- Required Agency Management System Experience : EASE or Employee Navigator
- 3+ years of relevant insurance industry experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with groups between 2-200 lives is required.
- Holds at least one professional designation or has comparable job experience.
- Above average computer skills with the capacity to master essential software programs.
