Senior Electrical & Automation Engineer

Amotec is leading the search for a Senior Electrical & Automation Engineer on behalf of a multi-billion dollar food manufacturing company .

This position is based at a production facility located 45 minutes NE of Indianapolis . Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Position Overview :

As the Senior Electrical & Automation Engineer, you'll drive the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical, automation, and digital systems.

Your expertise will be essential in managing projects from conception to commissioning, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

This role will also involve providing hands-on support, troubleshooting, and technical training to enhance the plant’s engineering capabilities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Project Leadership : Lead the Electrical and Automation aspects of capital projects, ensuring solutions meet standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Process Optimization : Continuously improve quality, safety, and efficiency in production processes by identifying and implementing process enhancements.
  • Maintenance & Reliability : Support the implementation of maintenance strategies and ensure the reliable operation of all electrical and automation systems.
  • Technical Training : Develop and deliver training materials to upskill operators and technicians, conducting assessments to ensure competency.
  • Sustainability Initiatives : Contribute to factory sustainability goals, with a focus on energy and resource efficiency improvements.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (P.E. or PMP is a plus).
  • 5+ years in Electrical & Automation, preferably in Food & Beverage or CPG manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with automation systems, including HMI, PLCs, and MES.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution (low, medium, and high voltage) and familiarity with local codes and standards.
  • Experience with digital technologies (e.g., data analytics, predictive maintenance) and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
