As Director of People and Operations, you serve as the central point of contact for employees and the leadership team, providing expertise and guidance in all areas related to the organization, including building operations, organizational compliance, professional development, payroll, and HR.
You are responsible for agency-wide communications, safety and wellness, office logistics, security, and property management.
Dress for Success Houston (DFS Houston) is an affiliate of Dress for Success, with Houston being the largest affiliate serving nearly 3,000 women each year.

The opportunity to :
- Provide overall process assessment, improvement, and implementation of agency operations.
- Ensure the agency building, grounds, and assets are properly maintained and in working order.
- Manage the operating expense budget for DFS Houston, liaise with outside vendors, and coordinate contract renewals.
- Flex your technology skills as the onsite point person for technology needs and support for Salesforce administration.
- Onsite point person for all HR needs. Escalate issues to our PEO as needed for support.
- Lead the agency’s HR initiatives including policy creation, process improvement, staffing, employee relations, and compliance.
- Plan and deliver internal organization meetings and social events.
- Maintain records for HR and Operations.
- Coordinate benefits with the PEO including eligibility, 401(k) document and enrollment, administration and coordinating health insurance renewal.
- Coordinate / conduct training and professional development for overall team.
- Office logistics for HVAC, shredding, maintenance, cleaning crew, parking, and security.
- Deliver internal communications through email, calendar, and Teams.
- Provide coverage for leadership team as Director on Duty.
- Able to work with people across different sectors, including corporate and social service agencies.

Your background includes :
- A passion for helping women succeed in work and in life.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field.
- Five years of senior-level professional experience in the business or non-profit sector.
- Human Resources best practices for people leadership.
- Experience with staff supervision and management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Logistics and time management.
- Excellent organizational skills, with ability to multi-task comfortably.
- Problem solving with creative solutions and technological curiosity.
- Leadership and Team management.
- Capable of creating effective team-oriented work atmosphere.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365, Adobe, and Zoom.
- Ability to pass a financial background check.
- The ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- A polished, professional appearance and manner.
- Reliable transportation with current driver’s license and automotive insurance to represent agency at offsite events.
- Flexibility to work at least one weeknight evening and one Saturday per month.
- The ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
Preferred
- Experience implementing professional development programs.
- Financial reporting (Quickbooks).
- Experience with an audit for a non-profit.
- Salesforce or CRM database experience.
