Job Description :
The Forklift shop Supervisor will support the Assistant Manager by leading assigned personnel within the Forklift maintenance team in addressing the company's mobile equipment repair and maintenance program which is required to maintain lift truck equipment as well as related equipment.
The position is highly involved and responsible for the overall safety, productivity, and work quality of their team. This is considered a "hands-on" leadership position that will require working alongside direct report mechanics on and off site when required.
JOB DUTIES :
- Assist the Assistant Manager in maintaining company lift trucks and related equipment as required.
- Assist the Assistant Manager in training, developing, and evaluating personnel.
- Provide routine equipment updates to appropriate Departments.
- Maintain company Total Process Reliability (TPR).
- Must report and record any unsafe conditions immediately.
- Must support team with repairs on equipment out on the shop floor and or location.
- Must follow Company Policy and Department rules at all times.
- Must do well under pressure, ability to lead a team in a productive and safe manner.
- Work directly and cooperate with the Department Managers to accomplish project goals as needed.
- Sustain all 5S organizational efforts in assigned area of responsibility.
- Keep the area Management informed of day-to-day production and maintain quality control of finished product
- Maintain a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation.
- Report defective tools, equipment immediately to Management
- Load / unload equipment safely by use of forklift
- Operate stationary and moving overhead cranes, forklifts, and any equipment needed to perform a job within safety guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others
- Able to communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers over the phone and in person
- Ability to work in productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork, support and cooperation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of Arc / Mig welding and cutting methods
- Basic experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems
- Previous experience in "Total Process Reliability" (TPR) maintenance is a plus
- Ability to work in group setting
- Apply common sense; understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Safety quality when performing work
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as workload requires
- Must have computer proficiency in : Internet explorer, Word, Excel
- Ability to Learn JD Edwards maintenance System
- Ability to open and close work orders in JD Edwards
- Ability to manage labor hours efficiently as per schedule
- Equipment PIM optimization
- Able to read and understand standard operating procedures and parts manuals
- Knowledge of hydraulic components and operations
- Knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to lead by example by performing service and repairs in a shop and or field setting with direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Speak, Read and Write English effectively (Spanish is a plus)
- Previous knowledge of Ag. and Industrial related equipment repair and maintenance
- Valid California driver license and clean driving record
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- 5 years previous experience preferred
- 2 years of supervisory experience leading personnel
- Technical School
- Fonnal Supervisory training
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to grasp and climb steps or ladders
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (ie. hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, windy, etc.)
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, reach, push, pull.
- Must be able to see and hear as required to properly perform job tasks
HOURS & WORKDAYS :
1st shift (6 : 30 am - 4 : 00 pm), Monday through Friday when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory.
