CT Technologist II - Nights - Full-Time

At Houston Methodist the CT Technologist IIposition is responsible for completing a variety of routine tocomplex diagnostic CT procedures to include common and special CTexams of high difficulty.

This position is a member of the directpatient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of computedtomography (CT) scanning.

This CT Technologist II position servesas a mentor to CT Technologist I and students by utilizing skillsand knowledge to help train and educate others.

This position worksindependently by exercising sound judgment and executing aboveaverage clinical skills on challenging diagnostic procedures andpatient care situations.

The CT Technologist II position providesdirect assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special CTprocedures. This position delivers exceptional patient care andadheres to radiation standards and guidelines established bygoverning agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customerservice.

SERVICEESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performsdiagnostic radiology procedures to include common and special CTexams. CT exams use xray images and computer processing to generatepictures of tissue densities through the patientsbody.
• Proactively assessesidentifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustmentor intervention to optimize patient care image quality and patientexperience.

This includes : positioning physiology procedurepreparation and technical factors. Modifies technical factors toachieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications andlimitations associated with certainprocedures.

• Providesdirect assistance to physicians during diagnostic or special CTprocedures including assisting with steriletechnique.
• Providesaccurate explanations and instructions to patients and familymembers at an appropriate level utilizing verbal and nonverbalskills terminology andlanguage.

QUALITY / SAFETYESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Followssafety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patientsstaff and general public and follows radiation safety standardsMaintains proper sterile techniques for procedures regularlypractices aseptic techniques and ensures compliance with infectioncontrol procedures.

Complies with job role department and hospitalsafety standards practices andpolicies.

Identifiesopportunities for corrective action and process improvementproviding recommendations and contributes to meeting department andhospital targets for quality and safety.

Reports near misses andinputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safetyreporting system to improve processes and identify trends.

Utilizescritical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patientreactions (i.e. contrast media and medications) or potentialoutcomes asappropriate.

Ensures allimaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed asrequired and is in safe working order prior to use.

Reports anymalfunctions to management and regularly practices preventivemaintenance procedures; calls for service ifneeded.

Assists withimplementation and education of department based safety initiativesand standards ofpractice.

• CNMT Certified NuclearMedicine Technologist (NMTCB) AND

• CMRTTemp CertifiedMedical Radiologic Technologist Temporary State Licensure AND
• BLS Basic Life Support(AHA)
