The Finance Director position requires a highly responsible individual and includes complex administrative and managerial work, planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Department of Finance.
The Director of Finance also serves as Village Treasurer and has general management responsibility for all operations of the Finance Department.
The Director of Finance supervises Department of Finance staff. Work involves responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing all operations of the Department of Finance including accounting and internal controls;
payroll, accounts payable and receivable, utility billing, customer service, collection, disbursement, and investment of all Village funds, debt management, and other fiscal activities.
Work also includes managing the Village’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Supervision is exercised over Department of Finance personnel directly.
Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Village Manager and in compliance with federal, state, and Village laws, statutes, and ordinances.
Performance is evaluated through meetings, reports, and audits to assess the overall effectiveness of the program. The Finance Director reports to the Village Manager.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or business administration plus five years of professional experience in finance is required;
MBA, CPFO, MPA, or CPA preferred. This position’s salary range is $133,697.72 - $183,837.17 with anticipated starting salary at $134,000+ / - (DOQ) with excellent benefits.
You will receive 2 personal days, 12 holidays, 12 days of paid sick leave, and 15 days of vacation annually. Full-time employees have their choice of HMO or PPO medical coverage, dental, and an optional vision coverage plan.
The Village pays 80% of the insurance premium, with the remainder paid by the employee. Employees are also enrolled in a Life Insurance and AD&D policy providing $75,000 in coverage, paid entirely by the Village.
Full-time employees are required to participate in IMRF, a defined pension plan. Employees are also given the option to participate in the following : participation in the IMRF Voluntary Additional Contribution (VAC) fund, MissionSquare (457 plan), supplemental life insurance, and flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care.
