Some of what you'll be doing :

As an Assistant Director Airport Operations Airfield, you will lead and direct the airfield teams to ensure that services are delivered in a holistic, efficient, consistent, and safe manner.

  • You will lead and direct all operational aspects of the airfield that operates 24 / 7 / 365 and create a culture where information sharing, team-based resolutions, cross training, process improvements and teams are held accountable for goal achievement and results.
  • You will perform risk analysis and develop contingency plans for unexpected problems that can have significant impact on airport operations.

You will respond to emergent issues or conditions, make immediate and vital decisions to resolve emergency conditions provide guidance and support to front-line, in-field, managers.

  • You will act as Incident Commander during snow events, make critical decisions regarding incident prioritizations, response, recovery, and resource allocation and management.
  • You will maintain expert knowledge of Federal (TSA, CBP, FAA, DOT), state and city legislation to assess industry trends.

You will also monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and guidance related to airfield operations and develop and implement policy and procedural changes and ensure reporting and compliance.

You will collaborate on capital programs construction, alterations, and maintenance activities at the airport facilities.

You will also propose and develop business cases for capital and expense programs and projects.

You will design and develop budget based on company's objectives, departmental goals, and identifying overhead costs and present to senior management.

You will also track expenditures and make decisions based on budget allocations.

You will provide overall leadership to airfield staff including setting aligned goals, coaching, training, performance management, and career development for managers (with direct reports) and / or individual contributors.

You will also develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), critical success factors and metrics to monitor performance at regular intervals.

Who you are :

  • Experienced You have six (6) years of experience in airport or airline operations, to include three (3) years of experience supervising staff in multiple business units in an airport or airline environment.
  • Desired We hope you have a bachelor’s in aviation and / or are a Certified Manager (CM) from AAAE.

What else you need to know :

  • Driver’s License You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule Your normal work schedule will be Monday Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. and, occasionally come in on off shifts (40 hours per week).

Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You will be required to work during emergencies.

  • Work Environment You will primarily work in an office environment at the airport with occasional teleworking.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.

If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

Security Requirements As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.

S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
