Job Purpose

The Technical Sales Engineer (TSE) for Latin America will work as a member of the ITO team to support international market and Distributor development, including education, training, sales, and research & development. The TSE will provide specialized technical and sales support to Distributors, their sales / technical teams, their customers, and others, as directed. The TSE will help facilitate communication among Distributors and help coordinate BG University activity within the region. All roles and responsibilities are focused on brand development and sales growth. The TSE will be a resource for the research and development of new product applications and related sales methods, research into market needs and opportunities, as well as competitive benchmarking. The TSE will also support various ITO and Distributor trade shows, primarily in Latin America, and other marketing and related activities, as directed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads by example to achieve BG's vision and Core Values.
  • Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
  • Support ITO business development in general, to include area research, Distributor staff training and Customer cultivation, trade shows, and other territory projects, as assigned.
  • Educate and train BG Distributor staff, and others, as directed, on the theory, design, and operation of all BG services, including chemistry, tools, and equipment, and on BG sales practices and programs.
  • Perform ongoing research of the Automotive Industry to identify current and future BG needs and opportunities, where this will include gathering vehicle and competitor information, including insights and data for Latin American and Caribbean markets. In this, collaborate with other ITO staff and with BG Product Technology and Proving Ground staff.
  • Assess and resolve Distributor inquiries, requests and concerns, primarily by phone / email, to ensure that most inquiries are resolved at the first, or earliest thereafter, point of contact. In this, be primarily responsible for inquiries from Latin America and the Caribbean but also coordinate and collaborate with ITO and other BG staff providing similar support to the field, as needed.
  • Encourage / solicit feedback on services provided and recognize the changing needs of service opportunities, including making recommendations for improvements to BG products, tools, equipment, service protocols and sales practices and programs.
  • Maintain electronic and / or written databases of letters, forms, technical advice, information given, services requested, and complaints made to ensure accuracy of information and efficiency when dealing with Distributors, Customers and others.
  • Assist with the publication of technical, sales and marketing materials and bulletins, particularly those relating to ITO.
  • Assist with market research and strategic planning for ITO and help execute approved strategies in various territories.
  • Assist in identification of trends, risks and opportunities across product lines / business area pursuits and help identify priorities in business needs, opportunities, and resource allocations.
  • Assist with BG University and area-based sales and technical training, to include instructional roles as appropriate.
  • Assist with OEM cultivation and the gaining of product and service approvals and / or recommendations.
  • Submit regular reports summarizing activity, expenditures, plans, projected needs, and other issues as required, focusing on ROI.
  • Reflect and maintain a professional and trustworthy manner, comply with company policies and ethical and legal expectations, and reflect and advocate for company core values.
  • Helps manage communications, projects, and tasks, both internally and externally, ensuring alignment and adherence to agreed timelines and plans from Distributors, Resellers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Automotive Technology, or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with technical certificate in Automotive Technology, preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of technical service, sales, field training, and research & development required. Dealership service experience preferred.
  • Product knowledge : Experience with BG products, service equipment, application methods, and sales techniques preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in this area is desired but not required.
  • Spanish reading and writing proficiency required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Valid passport required.
