ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
JAA is seeking to hire a Business Development Manager to play a key role in JAAs growth in international development consulting.
The Business Development Manager will lead creation of business development and marketing strategy and help to implement and strengthen day-to-day BD operations and processes.

The Business Development Manager will work with leading technical experts and proposal developers to identify new business opportunities, make bid decisions, manage capture, and develop winning proposals.

Hybrid typically works in the office in Arlington VA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The salary range for this position is between $75,000-$80,000.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing business development and marketing. The Business Development Manager will also be involved in technical assistance on selected JAA projects.
Business Development Management
- Facilitate development and update of business development strategy and annual business development plans
- Develop and oversee implementation of business development systems and procedures
- Work with technical leaders to identify business opportunities by conducting research on potential opportunities, analyzing JAA competitiveness and qualifications, and identifying clients needs and interests.
- Manage business development meetings and business development tracker.
- Lead pre-proposal capture, including research, capture trips to the field, identifying potential partners, and recruitment and teaming.
- Help develop competitive and compliant cost proposals.
- Contributes to the recruitment of long and short-term personnel for competitive bids, including identifying and interviewing potential candidates, and participating in final candidate selection.
- Manage proposals and proposal teams.
- Write sections of competitive and compliant technical proposals for submission to USAID, other USG agencies, other donors, and prime contractors.
- Supervise BD consultants when needed to ensure delivery of quality inputs.
- Assist in development of graphics for proposals.
- Draft of review teaming agreements.
- Lead analysis of lessons learned and manages learning in business development.
Marketing Management
- Advise JAA on marketing strategy, planning and management.
- Manage JAAs website, social media, and marketing materials.
- Coordinate thought leadership and eminence building and assists technical leaders with networking.
- Improve JAA branding and manages JAAs strategic communications and marketing.
- Manage and market JAAs tools and methodologies and productize JAA technical expertise and tools.
- Compile and share success stories and impact stories for JAAs social media presence.
Technical Activities :
- Support project technical assignments.
- Conduct research and analysis.
Staff Management :
Manage JAA Communication Intern on marketing and communications activities.
Qualifications :
The ideal candidate will have the following experience :
- Masters degree in business administration, public policy, economics, political science, agriculture, international relations, or a related field AND 2+ years of experience in international development or related field OR Bachelors degree and 4+ years of experience
- Business development, marketing, and communications experience
- Experience with marketing and proposal development for US Government agencies, preferably USAID
- Experience in international development is preferred
- History of success work with teams of experts
- Experience managing marketing and communications
- Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills.
Working Relationships :
The Business Development Manager will report to the JAA Executive Vice President for Business Development.
