About the College / Unit / Department :

The Department of Psychology has approximately 45 faculty members, 90 doctoral students, 50 I / O students at Gwinnett, and 2100 undergraduate Psychology majors.

Position Summary :

The Department of Psychology at the University of Georgia invitesapplications for an Associate or Full Professor position in the area of Racial / Ethnic Health Disparities to begin Fall 2025.

Candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching needs of the Psychology Department at the graduate and undergraduate level.

Candidates may affiliate with one or more of our department’s core training areas : Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Industrial / Organizational (I / O) Psychology, and Clinical Psychology.

Successful applicants will join a nationally prominent and productive research faculty and department that is dedicated to supporting faculty research.

Collaboration within the department and across the University is encouraged.

Additional Requirements :

Candidates must be eligible for initial appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level, with tenure. Please see the requirements for Associate Professor and Professor ranks in the Unit Criteria for Promotion and Tenure for the Department of Psychology.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution.

Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies :

The successful candidate will have a research program in the area of racial / ethnic Health Disparities that examines topics such as the impact of psychosocial context, life course effects of chronic race-related stressors on mental and physical health, and / or culturally-informed prevention research for marginalized populations experiencing racism and elevated levels of race-related trauma.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a research program with national prominence and influence, a high level of sustained research productivity, and an established and current record of extramural funding.

The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct and lead large-scale research efforts, including the ability to collaborate at a senior level with the Center for Family Research (CFR;
