Essential Job Functions
Works under the supervision of City of Rockville Community Services Program Coordinator to organize and promote programming.
Responsible for assisting weekly sessions with youth development programs, will support the staff at host sites were programming is occurring.
Research possible group activities and community service activities for program participants. Assists with program outreach and participant retention.
Responsible for planning and leading social skills games and team building activities. Other duties may be assisting in daily program execution including providing structure, consistency and support for program.
Up to 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS :
Must have reliable transportation and a current Maryland State driver's license. Must be able to perform the work as required including must have some experience working and interacting with children.
Have the ability, patience and enthusiasm to work with youth. Give youth developmental and emotional support. Possess good communication, organization and time management skills.
Must be able to successfully clear a CPS fingerprinting background check.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of social / emotional issues facing youth. Preferred skills include : CPR and First Aid certified.
EXPERIENCE :
Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in working with youth.
EDUCATION :
Must have graduated from high school. Must have a combination of training and experience that is equivalent of an associate's degree from an accredited university or college in a social science or closely related field.
