We are looking for a Construction Engineer for our client - an engineering and energy services firm focused on energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainable construction projects.
Specializing in K-12, higher education, and multi-family residential buildings, the company works at the building level with developers and owners to optimize energy performance and reduce emissions.
They are committed to long-term solutions that deliver energy savings and sustainability, with projects ranging from Heating Network Optimization to Solar and Geothermal Energy implementations.
This is a permanent, boots-on-the-ground opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager with a background in mechanical engineering and HVAC systems.

What to do :
- Manage and oversee on-site construction activities, coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team from design to project completion, ensuring that safety, quality, and budgetary objectives are met.
- Address technical challenges during construction with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to ensure project goals are met efficiently.
- Manage project scope, changes, and variations, keeping costs, schedules, and personnel balanced.
- Suggest and present project enhancements, estimate costs, and ensure alignment with the client’s goals.
- Assess energy performance factors and recommend energy-efficient solutions for systems like HVAC, heating, cooling, and ventilation.
- Oversee the execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Provide excellent customer service throughout the construction process.
You have :
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management, project management, or project engineering with a focus on mechanical systems and HVAC.
- Background in commercial or residential construction, with a preference for HVAC and mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; negotiation experience is highly valued.
- A collaborative team player with resilience, determination, and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Resourceful with strong judgment and decision-making capabilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder; sponsorship is not offered.
- Primary project in Washington, D.C., with potential future projects across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast (Maryland, Virginia, New York).
Minimal travel required (twice per year max), with expenses covered.
Hybrid work environment with regular visits to the project site in D.C. (5 minutes from the office).
