Primary Purpose
Evaluates, consults, plans, and provides security-related services designed to protect the personnel, assets, and facilities of Sempra and its operating companies without assistance.
This includes establishing loss prevention and security awareness programs and collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies;
conducting criminal and / or administrative investigations; and consulting with all levels of Company management regarding security matters in an assigned area of responsibility (AOR).
Duties and Responsibilities
Investigations :
Conducts administrative / security investigations related to all reported security matters, to include sensitive Human Resource (HR) investigations involving potential crimes, threats, workplace violence, and Ethics and Compliance Helpline investigations.
Coordinates and assists law enforcement with confidential criminal investigations. Implements and manages loss prevention programs in assigned AOR.
Assessments :
Conducts site security reviews of assigned facilities and completes security vulnerability assessments at Company facilities considered critical in compliance with NERC / CIP standards and / or TSA guidelines.
Conducts physical security assessments of Company facilities to determine the most efficient and cost-effective way to protect Company assets.
Evaluates sensitive information (open source / law enforcement / classified) from external or internal sources related to potential threats or security related matters and takes appropriate action.
Training :
Plans, develops and delivers security awareness training programs to all personnel within the AOR to enhance personnel security and asset protection.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as private industry security organizations / associations.
Liaison :
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as private industry security organizations / associations.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in related field is required.
- Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in law enforcement or intelligence, private security and / or related field is required.
- 2 years of experience in management and / or supervisory experience with a law enforcement agency is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Management and / or supervisory experience with a law enforcement agency is preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with individual and / or group is preferred.
- Ability to manage complex security incidents relative to special events, investigations, and
employee / site security is preferred.
Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid California driver's license is required.
Other Qualifications
- Completion and demonstrated ability to apply information received at two professional development training courses in the areas of leadership, communication, employee relations or other courses recommended or approved by the Security Manager.
