About the Role :

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join our growing engineering organization. In this role, you'll lead a team of talented product and platform engineers and will be responsible for driving technical vision and key architecture decisions behind our digital experience.

You will lead our efforts to bring innovative features to life and ensure our platform's reliability and scalability. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is as passionate about creating seamless user experiences as they are about solving complex infrastructure problems.

This role is based in New York City, with in-person work at least two times per week.

Responsibilities :

• This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-paced growth stage.
• Cultivate a high-performance culture, optimizing for both retention and results as our business grows in scale and complexity.
• Hire and develop technical talent within the organization, refining our recruiting process to hire engineers with varying backgrounds, levels of seniority, and domain knowledge.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship, fostering a culture of respect, transparency, continuous learning, and improvement.
• Ensure our engineering practices, such as CI / CD, code reviews, and QA processes, meet our needs and can evolve as we scale.
• Collaborate closely with teams across the business to build strong relationships and deliver on product initiatives.
• Ensure that development processes are streamlined and efficient, balancing process and flexibility to deliver impactful and quality work at scale.

Qualifications :

• 7+ years of software engineering experience including 3+ years of experience building and managing teams.
• You've shown technical expertise as a software engineer, built and scaled teams and systems, and made complex engineering decisions (ideally in the digital health, consumer, and / or regulated industry space).
• Experience in a leadership role, with a proven ability to attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent.
• A team player who loves to collaborate, thrives on team wins, and is viewed as a dependable partner for your team. You provide clear, actionable feedback and encouragement.
• You have a strong technical background that includes experience working with REST APIs, GraphQL, Javascript, web frameworks, and relational databases like Postgres.
• Experience deploying & monitoring web applications on cloud service providers (preferably AWS).

Details :

• Compensation : $200-250k base + equity.
