About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 1.5 years of Med Surg or PCU experience

License : Valid Michigan RN License

Certifications : BLS (AHA), NIHSS

Must-Have :

• Must be available the first 8 days of the assignment
• Strong post-surgical competencies required
• Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1 : 6
• Must float to other Med Surg, ICU, and ED as needed

Description :

The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients in a medical surgical unit.

The role requires strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a variety of post-surgical patients.

Telemetry and remote monitoring skills are essential.

Candidates should have experience with colostomy care and feeding tube management.

Pre / Post Hemodialysis management is also required.

Experience with accessing ports and blood product administration is mandatory.

Candidates must be proficient in peripheral line care and management, including starting IVs.

Knowledge of heparin and insulin administration is necessary.

Must be able to manage PCA and work with surgical drains and chest tubes.

Experience with high flow nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration is required.

Tracheostomy management experience is essential.

Isolation precautions and wound care (including wound vacs) are required skills.

The unit serves a diverse patient population with general surgical needs and some medical overflow.

Interdisciplinary team support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.

The Registered Nurse will be expected to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
