Our engineering team is looking for a mechanical technician and fabricator with organizational skills suitable for operating an assembly lab and machine shop.
Using your skills and abilities, youll execute the machining and fabrication of custom and modified parts, the assembly of modules and components, the build and usage of test stands, and manage the machine shop and fabrication lab.

Responsibilities :
- Mechanical assembly of RISE Cylinders and test hardware
- Support, operation and management of lab space and machine shop
- Execution and completion of test plans of assemblies and parts
- Tracking inventory and maintaining stock of common materials
- Precision machining and fabrication of custom components
- Maintenance of machine tools including lathe; mill; 3-axis CNC mill and other common machine tools
- DFM / DFA review of mechanical drawings
- Engage with the engineering team on builds of new products, asking clarifying questions to ensure we produce what our engineers are envisioning
- Work independently to build prototype systems with minimal engineering documentation
- Identify and escalate issues that arise during builds
- Propose possible solutions and participate in root cause analysis when issues occur
- Maintain a high level of workmanship and a keen eye for detail
- Champion safety in our machine shop / lab space
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- This position reports to the VP of Engineering
Requirements
- Strong self-starter with high organizational tendencies
- Ability to read complex technical documentation
- Ability to operate and maintain common machine tools
- Ability to consume and discuss drawings and instructions for the purposes of DFM and DFA review
- Must be able to work atop ladders and scaffolding to service machinery
- Able to move large assemblies up to 50 lb
Preferred skill and experience :
- Experience in mechanical fabrication and assembly in a low-volume production environment
- Ability to review design and process documentation to improve manufactured yield and efficiency
