Registered Nurse

STGi provides detention health care services including medical, dental, and behavioral health to individuals in custody within ICE detention facilities.

We are seeking RN candidates for full-time and PRN / Per Diem healthcare positions.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAssociate's or baccalaureate Registered Nurse degree from a program accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Current, full and unrestricted licensed as Registered Nurse in the of state of Texas.One year of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse.

BLS for Healthcare Providers® certification through the American Heart Association®.Ability to pass a federal government security background check.

US Citizen.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides direct care to patients within discipline Scope of Practice and performs functions in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing and or granted privileges.

Provides treatment of persons throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.May be expected to respond to and or coordinate response to medical emergencies.

Must appropriately document patient / resident encounters electronically according to current standards of care using electronic health records.

Evaluates health care needs of residents and develops nursing care plans to meet those needs.PHYSICAL DEMANDSRequired to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 10 minutes and maintain balance.

Required to respond to any medical emergency within 4 minutes, where a fast walk or jog may be necessary to provide assistance.

Required to perform CPR / emergency care standing or kneeling.Must have the ability to assist sick, injured or aging detainees or staff exiting the building during an emergency (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self).

Must be able to see, hear and smell with or without the use of aides if necessary (exceptions on a case-by-case basis).Must easily alternate between kneeling and standing.

Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.Must be capable of standing on hard surfaces (cement floors) for long periods of time.

Retain current and unrestricted nursing license in the state in which the RN practices.Retain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA or MTN.

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques.Ability to assess patient condition, recognize adverse signs and symptoms, and react swiftly in emergency situations.

Ability to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, taking into consideration patient / family needs, level of understanding and available local resources.

Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with the focus on disease prevention and health maintenance.

Ability to teach patients and / or families proper home health care activities, such as giving injections, taking blood pressures, changing wound dressings, etc.

Knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, including desired effects, side effects, complications, and patient usage considerations.

Knowledge of the basic concepts of customer service techniques related to age-specific population.Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, Electronic Medical Records and computer maneuverability.Knowledge of pharmacology.

Must have exceptional diplomatic communication skills and experience in handling difficult customer situations.Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task.

Required ExperienceRN from a National League for Nursing (NLN)-accredited school. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and / or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior / office work environment.Required to respond to any medical emergency within the clinic, where a fast walk or jog may be necessary to provide assistance.
