As a Senior Software Engineer , you take on the role of Architect, driving the development of azure compute node services features with a security-first approach.
You will also develop, optimize, and maintain code to enhance performance, security, and quality. This opportunity will allow you to collaborate with stakeholders to conceptualize high-level design for scenarios or features and take the lead in identifying dependencies and crafting design documents for Azure Core Compute features.

Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive project plans, release plans, and work items, leveraging your expertise in product features.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiating actions to restore service.
- Continuously acquire new knowledge, adapting to technical trends and patterns to improve product availability, reliability, and performance.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, RUST, or C#
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in large-scale distributed systems analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience in high-stakes production online service environments.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, RUST, or C#
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, RUST, or C#
- OR equivalent experience.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in azure compute core and security domains.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
