Henderson Middle School is seeking a Lead Teacher Special Education. The ideal candidate should be able to work in both a collaborative and resource / pullout position.

The candidate should be highly qualified in all content areas and be familiar with preparing Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for students.

They must work cooperatively with general education teachers and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Title : Lead Teacher, Special Education

Assist in the delivery of speech therapy and evaluate Speech-Language Pathologist performance, ensuring adherence to educational standards and regulations.

Provide expert input to develop action plans aimed at achieving desired outcomes in the field of special education and speech therapy.

Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert, frequently advising others on complex matters.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Complete new and innovative work that requires in-depth analysis to understand and solve problems that span a wide range of difficult and unique issues.
  • Provide thought leadership and contribute to broad organization-wide projects.
  • Support Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) by providing training and guidance on procedures related to their practice, ensuring effective service delivery and adherence to professional standards.
  • Assist SLPs with daily tasks and responsibilities, facilitating efficient operation within the therapeutic environment.
  • Receive and process information from clients and other professionals to enhance communication channels and support seamless service provision.
  • Evaluate the services provided by SLPs for effectiveness, and compliance with standards, and identify areas for professional development or performance improvement.
  • Offer resources and support to SLPs aimed at continuous professional growth, aligning with best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
  • Ensure that all activities align with cultural values while promoting an inclusive environment conducive to client progress and staff development.
  • May provide input to develop action plans for the department to achieve outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved college or university required.
  • Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved director of special education endorsement required or Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in educational leadership at level SRL-5, SRNL-5, PL-6, or above required.

Experience in special education and speech therapy for diverse student populations is preferred.
