About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Service Engineer to join our client's team, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across the East Bay / San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
In this role, you will work under the direction of the Area Service Manager, collaborating with Field Service Technicians and Engineers to manage service operations effectively.
This role includes leading site safety, overseeing operations and maintenance (O&M) of large-scale energy storage sites, and managing customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Service Engineer, you will :
Lead Site Safety : Ensure adherence to best safety practices and build on established safety culture, utilizing safety management systems.
Operations and Maintenance : Oversee O&M of energy storage sites and act as the primary point of contact for customers, managing all aspects of the service relationship.
Performance Metrics : Drive and monitor service business performance metrics, such as safety, availability, cost, and quality, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements.
Customer Support : Lead customer meetings, facilitate organized communication, and ensure service orders are processed efficiently.
Process Improvement : Identify and implement service process enhancements, including cost reductions, reliability improvements, and maintenance planning.
Technical Tasks : Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on BESS equipment, interpret single-line drawings and schematics, troubleshoot installations, and test control systems.
Work Orders & Inventory Management : Assist in the creation, review, and execution of work orders, and manage accurate inventory records.
Vendor Management : Oversee 3rd-party service vendors to ensure safe and effective O&M services across projects.
Continuous Improvement : Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and enhance the quality and reliability of services.
Budget Management : Develop and manage the service budget for assigned sites, ensuring all financial objectives are met.
Collaboration : Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align maintenance efforts with organizational goals.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will bring :
Education : Undergraduate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (preferred) or a high school diploma with 8-10 years of relevant experience in the electrical or renewable energy industries.
Experience : Demonstrated problem-solving skills, specifically with electrical troubleshooting, schematic reading, and quality control / testing procedures.
Technical Skills : Experience with bidirectional inverters, 1500VDC and 630 VAC systems, and equipment such as meggers and multimeters.
Communication : Strong ability to communicate clearly with technicians, engineers, and managers.
Adaptability : Ability to work in dynamic conditions, remain focused, and work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements : Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders / steps, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Other Requirements : Valid driver's license with a clean DMV record and the willingness to travel frequently to service sites.
