What does a Registered Nurse do?
The Registered Nurse is responsible for nursing care and caseload management of nursing-related care for individuals in the residential program.
This includes planning and coordinating all aspects of medical care and healthcare maintenance. It also includes clinical nursing supervision of LPNs and direct support staff as assigned including the nursing supervision of medication-trained staff in the residences assigned.
The Registered Nurse is the medical "liaison" for the person being supported, the interdisciplinary team, physicians, and other medical service providers.
Qualifications :
- The Registered Nurse (RN) must be licensed and currently registered by the New York State Education Department.
- Two years of acute care or long long-term experience preferred.
- One year experience with developmentally disabled desirable.
- Must possess excellent assessment skills and be able to work independently.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to participate in nursing on-call schedule as assigned.
