Job Summary

The General Manager is responsible for implementing operational strategy and production and leading all Operations, Customer Support, Delivery, Engineering and Administration efforts within the plant and surrounding area.

Specifically, the General Manager must ensure effective teamwork between operations, delivery, logistics, sales, and service.

Responsibilities of this position include establishing, implementing, and following effective operational policies and compliance with Division Laundry Houston, LLC ( Company ) standards to ensure continuous improvement related to a balanced metric scorecard approach in the areas of safety, quality, cost control, delivery, human resources, and growth within The Company’s operations.

The General Manager oversees the Plant Manager for all shifts and is also responsible for working with the Controller, Vice President, and President on all operational issues and financial analyses for the facility.

In addition, the General Manager is the primary liaison with customer executives.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct Managers and Supervisors.
  • Recruit and recommend for hire qualified candidates to build a high performing operations team, as well as to consistently reinforce teamwork among employees to achieve Company financial targets.
  • Build and maintain motivation among team members to achieve Company financial targets.
  • Well organized to enable oversight, direction, and supervision of all Operations, Customer Support, Administrative, Engineering and Delivery employees in the plant or at the customer's location(s) to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Company.
  • Implement strategic business operations plan through continuous improvement and leadership accountability in the following areas : safety, quality, delivery, cost control, human resources, and growth.
  • Build, maintain and promote positive relationships with Company’s Service and Sales personnel to ensure the highest levels of product quality, service, and customer satisfaction.
  • Research, plan, maintain and manage plant costs including linen, labor, utilities, transportation, and production supplies, in order to effectively manage Company assets within budget while maintaining highly efficient operations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all employees.
  • Ensure company development initiatives are carried out to their fullest extent through the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Oversee and direct employee selection, training and appraisal of employee’s productivity and complaints and disciplining of employees.
  • The position requires the ability to communicate in person, telephonically and via email.
  • Demonstrates friendly and respectful behavior in the work environment.
  • Prepare and maintain financial and operations reporting.
  • Direct and plan Capital Expenditures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The General Manager is responsible for supervising Team Leads, Production Supervisors, Plant Managers, Logistics, Office Manager, and all related employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years management experience at a General Manager level or higher.
  • Excellent business acumen, and strategic planning, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.
  • Proven knowledge, experience, and a history of success in operational management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of laundry or other processing equipment.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Pass a background check and drug screen, in accordance with applicable laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad leadership experience in a healthcare services setting.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish.

Travel Required

The General Manager position requires occasional travel. Employees are responsible for creating and submitting expense reports each week for expenditures incurred during travel.

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, twisting, and crouching to handle / file documents.
  • Physical demands include constant standing and frequent walking throughout entire work shift. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on uneven work surfaces in customer facilities as well as the processing facility.
  • Frequent use of telephone and fax.
  • Ability to move inside or outside of the office space to access file cabinets, copy machines, and attend meetings.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in visiting specific plant and customer areas.
  • Ability to climb and access stairs and ladders to survey plant and customer locations.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to wear and use personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to hear for safety and awareness of surroundings.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.
  • The position requires considerable sitting, typing and the ability to move objects of less than 25 pounds.

Work Environment

This position exists primarily within the plant environment, with periodic office work. The plant environment is typically warm with noise, wet areas, chemicals, and other hazards.

Scheduled Weekly Hours : Salaried.

May be required to work weekends and after hours as needed. Managers can be expected to work up to 10 hours a day and occasionally longer when required.
