Description

Martin Marietta is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to work out of the Maple Grove Maintenance Facility. This position will be responsible for safely and efficiently repairing a wide variety of equipment including fleet of Tractor / trailers, skid loaders, dump trucks, water trucks, light vehicles, crushing equipment and asphalt equipment.

This is a union position and membership in the Minnesota Teamsters Local 120 Union is required. Essential Functions

  • Maximizing performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
  • Performs fabrication and repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues for various types of equipment.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes and brake components, emission components, fuel, and fuel system components, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed while adhering to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Aides in the training of co-workers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role
  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing and record-keeping.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge, and skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and elevated work areas at a maximum height of 20 feet.
  • Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.
  • Able to adhere to MSHA & OSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production.

Work Environment This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota 75% in a shop setting, 25% in the field / outdoor. Competencies

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to feel, or handle objects, tools, or controls;

reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
