3 in U.S. News and World Report's 2023 Honor Roll of Best Children's Hospitals. The Texas Children's Hospital complex is located within the Texas Medical Center, itself the largest medical campus in the world.

The Medical Center Campus includes the Abercrombie Building, West Tower, Legacy Tower, Mark A. Wallace Tower, Feigin Tower, and the Pavilion for Women.

The TCH network also includes The Woodlands, the first hospital devoted to children's care for communities north of Houston;

West Campus, a community hospital in suburban West Houston; and the North Austin Campus, scheduled to open in 2024, which will extend TCH's reach beyond the greater Houston area.

The Department of Pathology at TCH oversees all pathology services for all campuses.

The combined annual surgical case volume at TCH exceeds 17,000 specimens from pediatric and gynecologic surgeries and obstetric deliveries, 3,000 additional cytopathology cases, and 110 pediatric and perinatal autopsies annually.

The Neuropathology service annually examines over 500 surgical cases including pediatric tumors, epilepsy resections, muscle and nerve biopsies, cytology specimens, and surgical neuropathology consult cases and approximately 100 autopsy brain cases.

Clinical molecular testing of brain tumors is performed in house within the Division of Genomic Medicine who closely collaborates with our neuropathology service.

Pathologists at TCH have primary full-time academic appointments in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at BCM and are expected to contribute to educational and scholarly activities in the Department of Pathology based at TCH, as well as pathology resident and fellow education.

Academic appointment (tenure-track) will be at a level commensurate with standards within the Department of Pathology & Immunology at BCM.

There are exceptional opportunities for collaboration and research activities at TCH including the Jan and Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI), which is home to over 200 researcher and scientist committed understanding incurable neurological and neurodegenerative conditions.

Summary

The Department of Pathology at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) / Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking to expand its faculty in the Division of Anatomic Pathology with a M.

D., D.O., or M.D. / Ph.D. board-certified or board-eligible pathologist with training and experience in Neuropathology. Additional training or experience in Pediatric Pathology is desired but is not required.

Candidates will be considered for tenure-track or tenured faculty appointments at Baylor College of Medicine.

Minimum Qualifications

Interested individuals must possess Board eligibility / certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology.

Board certification / eligibility in Neuropathology is required. Additional subspecialty board certification / eligibility in Pediatric Pathology is desired but not required.

Candidates must also be eligible for an active, unrestricted Texas medical license. Primary service responsibilities will include neuropathology.

Additional service coverage in pediatric, perinatal / placental, and / or gynecologic pathology can be tailored to the successful candidate.
