Compensation : $90,000 - $120,000

Reliance One is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer II to support one of our Tier One automotive clients. This role is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional with experience in vehicle programs or vehicle launches, especially within direct materials procurement. As a Buyer II, you will play a key role in executing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost improvement initiatives to support product quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Experience buying for a vehicle program or vehicle launch at a Tier One supplier
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field (required)
- Experience buying direct materials (any part that goes into the vehicle, not indirect materials)
Responsibilities
Execute direct materials commodity strategies in support of cost, quality, and delivery performanceImplement cost improvement programs and negotiate annual contractsManage cost control of purchased components, tooling, and services under established guidelines and global commodity strategiesMaintain tooling and component price change tracking within projects to support departmental financial reportingAct as a regional contact for Regional and Global Commodity ManagersEnsure accurate information is provided as part of Regional and Global Commodity StrategiesIdentify local opportunities for improvement and ensure effective rollout of assigned strategiesPrepare RFQs / RFPs, conduct market tests, and evaluate responses focusing on total cost of ownershipLead cross-functional teams to control component and tooling costsNegotiate multi-year purchasing contracts with suppliersSupport supplier quality and development objectives throughout the sourcing processPartner with internal customers and manufacturing plants to address supplier performance issuesSupport AQP activities related to the development and procurement of components and toolingEvaluate new suppliers using the supplier screening and qualification processAssist Commodity Managers in developing and executing commodity strategiesLead teams in identifying lowest purchase price (LPP) opportunities and improving product performanceSupport customer business team activities and ensure on-time delivery of new components meeting quality standardsPerform other duties as assignedQualifications
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence key stakeholdersCapability to manage multiple projects and AQP processes simultaneouslyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh attention to detail and strong organizational abilitiesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelProven experience in supplier evaluation, cost analysis, and contract negotiationBachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (required)Minimum 4 years of progressive buying experience in the automotive industryExperience evaluating and auditing suppliersEqual Employment Opportunity
