About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - ICU

Experience : Minimum 2 years in ICU

License : Current RN license

Certifications : BLS

ACLS

NIHSS

PALS (preferred)

Must-Have :

Neuro and Trauma experience are essential.

Experience with EVD and ICP monitoring is required.

Ventilator management and critical care drips knowledge is necessary.

Drain management and stroke experience is needed.

Ability to recognize cardiac rhythms and manage chest tubes is required.

Tracheostomy care and strong assessment skills are necessary.

Description :

Start date needed is 10 / 28.

The facility is a Level II Trauma Center with 411 total beds.

The ICU contains 26 beds and includes some negative pressure rooms.

Patient types include medical, surgical, trauma, neuro, ortho, and interventional patients.

Patient ratios are 1 : 2 based on acuity; may occasionally have a third patient being discharged or moved.

First-time travelers are welcome.

Support available on the unit includes an unassigned charge nurse who may have patients in critical staffing situations.

A resource nurse or house supervisor is available 24 / 7.

RT and hospitalists are in-house 24 / 7.

Intensivists are available for consults 24 / 7.

The trauma surgery team monitors their own patients.

Patients may be floated to the Cardiac Care Unit or Stepdown units as appropriate.

Experience with Cerner charting system is preferred.

Weekend rotation is required every other weekend, with specific shifts assigned.

Holiday requests must be submitted for manager approval.

Approval of time off goes through the manager.

Scrub colors must be professional solid colors.
