Job Description

Summary / objective

Roll Off Drivers are responsible for hauling scrap metal from one location to another. Their duties include loading and unloading roll-off containers, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. This position will require entering and exiting the truck multiple times per day. Roll-Off drivers will also be required to climb areas on the truck to hook / unhook containers, move items to smooth the load and secure covers.

  • Safely transport cargo from one location to another using a roll-off container.
  • Follow traffic laws and correct route themselves, ensuring that there is always enough gas in the tank for their destination.
  • Conduct pre-trip / post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
  • Always maintain interior cleanliness.
  • Fulfill administrative needs
  • Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays
  • Use navigation application to determine best route
  • Always interact with clients / employees professionally
  • Arrange for vehicle repairs with Mechanics, onsite, as needed
  • Keep mileage records and repair records up to date
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions, troubleshoot equipment, and find new routes when needed

  • Valid Indiana Class A CDL Driver's License
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Clean Driving Record for past 5 years
  • 2+ years' experience hauling heavy equipment / material with trailer.
