Description The TPE Product Development Engineer is responsible for coordinating and executing any non-standard QA molding / testing and / or development of TPE / TPO experimental production processes required for successful material qualifications, as well as commercial product maintenance activities.
This individual will be regularly involved in the compounding, molding, and testing of experimental compounds. Not eligible for work sponsorship Responsibilities Support and engage in daily TPE / TPO R&D in special application approvals, or qualification testing Alternate raw material qualifications OEM certification maintenance Manage the production scrap and rework strategies Investigate rejected finished material.
Work closely with the applicable R&D staff in planning strategies for continuous improvement in development efficiencies & maintenance of commercial products Works closely with R&D staff to coordinate any personnel training to redress R&D, QA testing and Production discrepancies.
Coordinate any regulatory specimen preparations / testing for material qualification, or maintenance of commercial programs Coordinate any special, non-standard internal testing, or outside lab testing Set-up and trouble-shoot applicable molding, extrusion and test equipment Run extruders, molding machines, and testing equipment Run designs of experiments and compile data comprehensively Assist in maintaining cleanliness and safety of pilot plant and other lab areas Additional duties / responsibilities as assigned, or apparent Requirements Skills and Abilities Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in related Science or Engineering field or an equivalent combination of training and work-related experience are required.
Prior laboratory and compounding work experience with thermoplastics and associated molding and testing is preferred Exceptional organizational, communication and documentation skills are required Familiarity with TPE / TPO formulary is preferred A strong and independent work ethic with a good head for details is a must Must be proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook;
must be adept at learning new software. Working knowledge of ISO 9000 policies and procedures is preferred. Required to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Operates a computer and other office machinery such as copy machine, and printer.
Operates molding machines and test equipment. Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions. Occasionally Lift and / or move up to 50 lbs.
Walk, use stairs, bend, reach, twist, turn and stand in one place for short periods of time. Reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
This position requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, shoes, face shields, gloves, etc.
Standard office and lab environment. The noise level is usually moderate, due to office and lab equipment and residual noise from the manufacturing floor.
