University of California Los Angeles
Requisition Number : JPF09563
Postdoctoral Researchers in the Peng Lab at UCLA
The Peng Lab at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking dedicated Postdoctoral Fellows with a background in data science and bioinformatics to help us gain a broader understanding of the neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration through computational analyses.
The role involves the application of state-of-the-art bioinformatic methods, machine learning, and AI techniques to high-dimensional data to perform integrative and exploratory analysis.
In return, we offer a robust environment for learning advanced genetic technology, viral manipulation, molecular biology, and behavioral analyses needed to study the molecular principles of visual function and disease.
For more details, see www.yirongpeng.com . We are committed to the academic growth and success of postdoctoral fellows and are looking for highly motivated applicants to join our vibrant team.
Responsibilities :
- Lead projects on developing novel analyses to study the development and degeneration of the visual system
- Acquire, process, integrate, and standardize large datasets and build databases
- Perform integrative and exploratory analyses of multi-omics datasets and apply machine learning methods to decipher the underlying principles
Selection criteria
- Ph.D. in computer science, data science, computational biology, systems biology / immunology, bioinformatics, or other related fields
- Strong track record of productivity, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Considerable experience in data analysis and handling omics' datasets - genomics transcriptomics, proteomics- evidenced by a portfolio including R scripts, published R packages, or contributions to open-source software projects
- Proficient use of the R language, alongside machine learning and AI, with extensive experience in data analysis
- In-depth knowledge and skills in using Linux, Git, Docker, PHP, MySQL, etc.
