Overview :

The Armed Security Guard is a critical role at the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County. This position requires maintaining a visible and professional presence to ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, and visitors.

The guard will be responsible for monitoring the premises, responding to potential threats, and coordinating with local law enforcement as necessary.

Key Responsibilities :

Maintain a Visible Presence :

Patrol and monitor the interior and exterior of the facility.

Be a constant, visible deterrent to any potential threats or inappropriate behavior.

Engage with clients, staff, and visitors in a professional and approachable manner.

Respond to Violations and Suspicious Activities :

Identify and respond immediately to any violations of court orders (e.g., protective orders, restraining orders).

Notify local police of any breaches of court orders or suspicious activities.

Observe and report any unusual or suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.

Situational Awareness :

Maintain a high level of awareness of your surroundings to detect potential threats.

Regularly inspect security systems, doors, and windows to ensure they are secure and functioning properly.

Communication :

Act as the first point of contact for law enforcement when incidents occur.

Maintain clear and effective communication with local police and emergency services as needed.

Document and report all incidents and activities in accordance with the center's policies and procedures.

Customer Interaction :

Greet clients and visitors upon arrival, providing assistance as needed.

Ensure that clients and visitors adhere to the center's security policies.

Provide information and directions within the center, maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.

Safety and Security Measures :

Conduct regular security checks and inspections of the premises.

Address and mitigate any safety hazards to prevent accidents or injuries.

Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, or other crises, following established protocols.

Qualifications :

Certification : Must possess a valid armed security license in accordance with state regulations.

Experience : Prior experience in security or law enforcement is highly desirable.

Strong observational and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.

Training : Must complete required training for handling domestic violence situations and maintaining situational awareness.

Legal Requirements : Must pass a background check, drug screening and meet any other legal requirements for carrying a firearm on duty.

Tuesdays 5pm - 9pm, Saturdays 8A-4P
