Location : Falls Church, Virginia (Hybrid)

Clearance Requirements : Public Trust

Position Status : Contract to Hire

Pay Rate : 47 / hr - 52 / hr W2

Position Description :

Seneca Resources is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our client's dynamic security operations team in Falls Church, VA . This role focuses on protecting critical infrastructure by designing, deploying, and managing advanced network and cloud security solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Palo Alto firewalls , cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) , and network threat management .

As a key member of the cybersecurity team, you'll ensure robust network defenses, respond to incidents, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold security best practices and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Network Security Management : Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive network and system protection strategies.
  • Firewall Administration : Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls to optimize performance and safeguard data.
  • Cloud Security Deployment : Deploy and manage Palo Alto solutions across AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud environments.
  • Incident Response : Detect, investigate, and resolve security events and vulnerabilities promptly.
  • Policy Development : Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls in line with organizational objectives.
  • Continuous Monitoring : Utilize SIEM and IDS / IPS tools to monitor network traffic, identify anomalies, and mitigate threats.
  • Collaboration : Partner with IT and security teams to implement resilient security architectures.
  • Documentation : Maintain detailed records of configurations, incidents, and changes to ensure compliance and traceability.

Required Skills / Education :

  • Proven experience managing and configuring Palo Alto firewalls .
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, VPNs, IDS / IPS, and threat detection technologies .
  • Experience with cloud-based firewall deployment in AWS, GCP, and Azure .
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) .
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Certifications such as PCNSE , AWS Certified Security - Specialty , or similar credentials are highly preferred.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools is a plus.
